I think you're right about the similarity between english and chinese ancient language when it comes to verses or poems. I sometimes feel modern chinese is less powerful in expression, less neat and tend to be prolix % b* @! F+ O. [: R- f! {, k( [; I! b4 n$ [0 c& `* ?$ _
